Overview:
Position: NCS Youth Leader
Salary: £10.18 – £10.42 per hour. Maximum weekly earnings: £635.07 (depending on age and working hours)
Dates: 2nd October – 27th October 2023. Please note: each wave is considered 5 days on a residential basis (Monday – Friday), no weekend working is required in this role.
NB: In-person staff training is the 30th September 2023. It is compulsory that all candidates are available for mandatory staff training and the full duration of their chosen waves.
NCS RESIDENTIAL WAVE DATES:
Monday 2nd October – Friday 6th October (Surrey/Kent)
Monday 16th October – Friday 20th October (Basingstoke/Southampton)
Monday 23rd October – Friday 27th October (Bristol & Hertfordshire)
NON RESIDENTIAL DAYS:
6 hour activity days at various locations across Hampshire, Berkshire and Isle of Wight.

GENERAL STATEMENT
Personal Best Education has been providing expert educational, sports and leisure services to the public since 2012. Our aims are to give individuals of all age-groups and backgrounds the opportunity to achieve the best they can and make a positive impact on themselves and their community. The primary focus of our services is to
educate and upskill the next generation and improve the physical and mental well-being of all ages.Our desire is to give everyone the opportunity to achieve their personal best whatever their age, background or circumstances.
THE POSITION
- Inspire and be a good role model for young people, motivating where required.
- Supervise, support and mentor young people during the NCS programme.
- Leading/facilitating engaging and educational sessions for young people on the NCS programme.
- Liaise with staff members and Designated Safeguarding Leads to ensure young people’s wellbeing is supported during delivery.
- To communicate effectively with senior staff, staff members and venue staff to ensure the smooth running of the programme.
- Work collectively with staff members to achieve aims, objectives and outcomes of the programme.
- Complete key admin tasks, such as registers and incident reporting.
- Follow appropriate procedures, including handling any safeguarding concerns in a timely and appropriate fashion in accordance to Personal Best Education policies.
- Lead daily guided-reflection sessions (covered in training).
- To support all young people in engaging with the activities on offer to them, demonstrating good participation.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with one or more of: children/ young people/ local communities/ charitable causes
- Excellent verbal communicator within a team and ability to work collaboratively.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Ability to lead and encourage a team, managing challenging behaviour if required
- Able to motivate and encourage people to overcome any boundaries
- Understanding of working with diverse community groups
- Experience of safeguarding and providing pastoral support
