Full-time Roles

Position:                              Operations Manager (Temporary) – Junior Activity Camps

Hours & Days:                   42.5hrs per week, Mon-Fri

Dates & Duration             1st July to 23rd August 2024, 8 weeks (6 weeks from Mon 15th July or

an earlier start date would be considered for the right candidate, with additional hours available in final week of Aug)

The Position

For more than a decade Personal Best has been successfully delivering a range of junior programmes such as the National Citizen Service (NCS), Commercial Activity Camps and the Holiday Activities & Food Programme (HAF) to thousands of young people across the South of England. 

The temporary Operations Manager will play a key role in providing main oversight to the final stages of planning and act as operational lead throughout delivery of all Personal Best’s Holiday Activity Camps across Hampshire & Surrey for juniors to ensure we make a meaningful and positive impact on the participants through an enriching and engaging experience in a safe and secure environment.

 

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Effectively manage all operations and operational project team on Personal Best’s Holiday Activity Camps for all critical tasks, as assigned, with deadlines and KPI’s to ensure successful delivery of the desired outcomes – Note: Operational planning significantly underway with many aspects already in place prior to July start
  • Act as main contact for all (and support/guide Operations Coordinator in related comms) operational staff and suppliers i.e. Operations Coordinator, Client Services & Admin team, Food/Activity providers etc.
  • Be an integral part of Personal Best Education’s Safeguarding and Well-being panel and lead on Holiday Activity Camps safeguarding processes and procedures
  • Prepare and provide progress and performance updates to the Personal Best Senior Leadership Team e.g. Communications and reports
  • Liaise with and support the staff recruitment and training team to ensure all camp staff are set up for success and monitored/supported effectively during delivery as well arranging assisting in arranging of staff absence cover
  • Ensure data collection/management relevant to the assigned project is carried out within the operations project team accurately and correctly at all times and shared solely with relevant stakeholders deemed appropriate or required e.g. Incidents & Accidents, Feedback etc.

  • Hold a minimum of 5 x GCSEs (or equiv.) at grade A-C (4-9), inc. Math & English – E
  • Be educated to degree level (or hold a minimum of 3 years’ experience in leading a comparable operational/project role in junior progs. With multiple sites such as International Summer Schools, Adventure Holidays, HAF/School Holiday Activity Camps or similarE

Overview:

As a Safeguarding and Well-being Coordinator, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants. Your expertise will be instrumental in effectively managing behaviour concerns and safeguarding issues, while also providing support and guidance to staff members. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safeguarding and well-being practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Behaviour Triage and Safeguarding: Expertly triage behaviour and safeguarding concerns, promptly escalating issues to relevant project managers and stakeholders.
  • Incident Management: Manage safeguarding concerns and liaise with delivery staff on how to handle incidents effectively, ensuring swift resolution and appropriate follow-up actions.

  • Financial Management: Establish systems with the finance team to handle social action funds legally and effectively, ensuring compliance with financial controls.

The Position
This exciting and diverse role is required to support both the customer service
and operational functions of Personal Best Leisure Centre and its portfolio. The
Customer Service and Leisure Centre Assistant will support Personal Best’s
clients at the centre, both on arrival and during their visits. They will help to grow
the revenues of all Personal Best’s propositions at the Mountbatten site as well
as being part of a team focused on making a meaningful and positive impact on
the local community and beyond.

 

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– To assist in the daily operation of the site ensuring a safe, efficient and
customer orientated service is provided to all visitors.
– Deal with customer enquiries and promote/sell the Personal Best portfolio –
face-to-face and telephone
– Log all relevant information on administration platform and access throughout
opening hours, as and when required
– Oversee and monitor the Leisure Centre during opening hours
– Opening and locking up the School site
– Set up and removal of various sporting & school equipment
– To maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the site at all
times, undertake routine cleaning duties as required
– To carry out other duties as may be required to ensure the site operation is
properly maintained to provide total customer satisfaction.

 

Qualifications and Education
– Minimum of 5 GCSE’s or equivalent

– First Aid Qualification is desirable but not essential
– An enhanced DBS check will be carried out as part of this role
Skills and experience
– Experience of supporting or working with customers and willing to learn new
customer service techniques
– Experience of working in a sports, leisure or educational setting
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Competent use of and knowledge of basic IT systems (Microsoft Word)
– Basic knowledge of health and safety at work

  • Liaise with relevant staff members and Designated Safeguarding Lead to ensure young people’s well-being is supported at all times.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Fitness Instructor to join our team. As a Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading fitness classes and providing guidance and motivation to participants.

We are looking for an instructor to take over an established over 50’s work out class on Mondays and Wednesdays (10.30am – 11.30am) at The Royal British Legion in Romsey.

We would also like to set up a new fitness class Saturday mornings (times to be discussed with the appointed candidate)

Responsibilities:

– Conduct fitness classes, including but not limited to cardio, strength training, and flexibility exercises

– Create and deliver workout routines that cater to the needs and goals of participants

– Demonstrate proper exercise techniques and provide modifications as needed

– Educate participants on the benefits of each exercise and promote a safe and healthy workout environment

– Monitor participants’ progress and provide feedback and encouragement

– Maintain a clean and organized fitness area

Requirements:

– Certification in fitness instruction or related field

– Previous experience in sports coaching or personal training is preferred

– Excellent communication skills to effectively instruct and motivate participants

– Ability to adapt workouts for individuals with different fitness levels or physical limitations

– Passion for health, wellness, and helping others achieve their fitness goals
